Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express, a GET.com advertiser, is a fantastic hotel card to consider getting if you like to stay at Starwood hotels and resorts around the world. That's because it lets you earn rewards in return for making Starwood and your other everyday purchases, and it is, in our opinion, one of the best hotel credit cards out there.
What I like a lot about the SPG Card is that it gives you access to a diverse collection of hotel brands worldwide, including Sheraton, W Hotels, Westin, Le Meridien, St Regis, The Luxury Collection, element, aloft, and Four Points by Sheraton, and it lets you earn points which can be redeemed for stays at Starwood hotels and resorts in nearly 100 countries around the world, or for airline tickets on over 150 airlines.

$0 introductory annual fee for the first year, then $95. The first year's introductory annual fee is $0 for new card members, thereafter the annual fee will be $95.
Earn 25,000 bonus Starpoints® after you use your card to make $3,000 in purchases within the first 3 months of card membership.
1 point for every eligible $1 you spend and up to 5 points for Starwood purchases. Here's the breakdown of the 5 points: For every eligible $1 spent at SPG hotels & resorts, you get 2 Starpoints on the Card, plus 2 Starpoints as an SPG member (you will automatically be enrolled under the Starwood Preferred Guest program), and you get 1 more Starpoint with SPG Gold or Platinum status.
Use Starpoints for hotel stays and upgrades at over 1,300 hotels and resorts in almost 100 countries with no blackout dates. You can get weekend nights at a category 1 hotel for as low as 2,000 points. This is a good deal if you enjoy staying at the Starwood brand of hotels and like to get hotel stays as rewards.
Free premium internet access in-room. When you stay at participating SPG hotels, you can enjoy complimentary, in-room internet access.
Earn 2 Starpoints® for each dollar. Earn 2 Starpoints® for every dollar you spend on the Card at participating SPG® & Marriott Rewards® hotels. Earn 1 Starpoint for all other purchases.
Use Starpoints to travel to your next destination. With your points, you can use SPG Flights to redeem free flights on over 150 airlines without blackout dates.
Starpoints direct deposit into frequent flyer account. You can set up a direct deposit to convert your points - mostly on a 1:1 basis - to any of over 30 major frequent flyer programs including United MileagePlus and Delta Air Lines SkyMiles. That makes this card an interesting option for collecting airline miles.
Starpoints do not expire as long as you continue to spend on your card. If you continue to make purchases with this card, your Starpoints will remain active.

Personally I find Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express one of the top hotel rewards card in the US since it gives you points whenever you spend on your card, which you can accumulate to later redeem for hotel stays or flights with SPG Flights, or convert them into airline miles. Plus, you get to earn up to 25,000 Starpoints for new card members after you make $3,000 in purchases within the first 3 months.
As long as you use this card frequently and especially in Starwood hotels, you will be able to earn a lot of points, thus enabling you to chalk up getaways at SPG hotels and resorts.

This is not a "real" American Express card. It has initial credit limits that are ridiculously low and the phone representatives are not empowered to increase the limits easily. What makes this ridiculous is that I have been an American Express member since 1984, have consistently run mid five figure monthly charges, paid in full each month and it is not worth the space in my wallet or embarrassment at a retailer to have this card, points or not. Cancelled the card two days after getting it. Not worth it.
